Quakers in Aotearoa/New Zealand feel deeply about topical issues of social concern. These arise from our long-held Testimonies of peace, integrity, simplicity and equality, and often we prepare and issue statements of our position at our annual Yearly Meetings, where Quakers from all over Aotearoa gather to discuss business and current issues. These formal Statements are often published as embodying the current view of the national body.
A selection of the issues Quakers are passionate about are outlined below:
Peace - current work in the area of peace and conflict resolution.
Social Justice - information about current Quaker work in the area of social justice.
The Environment - a series of documents relating to climate change and its effects in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
Sustainability - seminars and papers about living so that others can follow.
Treaty Issues - read a report by Murray Short on the Treaty Issues Gathering held in Whanganui in July 2004.
Constitutional Change - documents and resources to support discussion regarding changes to our Constitutional arrangements.
